Jeff's Story
I grew up in the Parkwood Hills/Skyline area of Ottawa. My high school memories are of Mr Watson's driving school; Mr Bretzlaf's urban geography field trip to NYC; Mr Lemke's poetry class, and dissecting cats in Mr Stark's biology class. I vaguely remember under-age drinking at the Capri on Merivale Road.
Upon graduation I went to Carleton and majored in euchre and folk music appreciation at Roosters. I left Carleton in 1974 -- an ill-thought, impulsive decision that led to a bunch of odd jobs and eventually, to a move to BC.

oming migration of retirees seeking the warmest climate (if the wettest) in Canada. I worked at odd jobs, including refinishing furniture and cleaning bars. I went back to school.
I earned a diploma in media production and leveraged that into career in media and public relations.
In 1984, while moving back to Ottawa, I struck up a conversation with an Australian woman visiting Canada on a round-the-world tour. Three years later, we got married.
We settled in Ottawa, where I worked in corporate communications for the federal government.
In 2003, we moved to Canberra. The move has allowed us to watch our grandchildren grow up and play meaningful roles in their lives.
