Jeff's Story
Hey classmates!
I took a break from college (UNI) after the first year to buy the store in Garber and ran it for 12 years with my sister Jane. I was a charter member and treasurer of the Elkport-Garber Jaycees (anyone remember the Annual Garber Picnics the Jaycees hosted?). During my 20-something years I also was a member of the Elkader Opera House Players and performed on stage in several productions. I went back to UNI to earn a bachelor's degree in education, followed by a short stint in the Peace Corps in Sierra Leone, West Africa (I lasted long enough to get really sick with malaria). ing to become a Mathematics Assessment Specialist for many years until I retired in 2020. Because I could work from home, I was able to move as my husband's career took him to different cities. Ross and I (together for 35 years, married for 10) have lived in Minneapolis, Scottsdale, San Diego, San Francisco, Saint Paul, Naples, Minnetonka, and we currently live near Hutchinson, Minnesota with our 3 dogs. I could not attend our 50th Class Reunion. I've seen the group picture of those who made it, and I could put the name with face of most of the attendees without looking at the printed name. I understand it was a grand time. Sorry I missed it!
