Jeffrey's Story
Life
I graduated from Jackson Central Merry (JCM) High School in Tennessee, but received my best memories from Lone Oak High School in Paducah, Kentucky. There are some notable exceptions down in Jackson, TN, like the girl I almost married, and other folks who moved in from the North with Bendix and Container Corporation of America. After graduating from JCM, I attended Memphis State University and Jackson Community College before enlisting in the U. S. Air Force. The Air Force provided me opportunity to see more of the United States, Alaska, Oklahoma, Florida, Texas, Mississippi, Ohio, California, and Idaho. I also lived in Okinawa, Japan for 12 years, the United Kingdom (Suffolk County, England) 4 years, and traveled to Korea, Tunisia, Spain, Germany, Panama, the Phillipines, and Bahrain. Fortunately, I've lived through a relatively peaceful era. The Berlin Wall was removed and Cold War ended only to fuel centuries old battles between ethnic groups.
Through my travels, I met and married a wonderful woman from Okinawa Japan. We met in early 1980 and were married in October that same year. We're dinks...dual incomes no kids. We're living in Boise, Idaho. She stays home and keeps me and the dogs in line. I'v held three positions since leaving the Air Force. I started at R. C. Bigelow Inc. (Bigelow Tea) as a maintenance manager, then moved to J.R. Simplot as a packaging maintenanc...Expand for more
e supervisor, Micron Technology as a Manufacturing Planning Engineer, and now on to Edward Jones studying for my Series 7, 66 and insurance to become a Financial Advisor. If I don't make this attempt, I just might be semi retired. No since killing myself working and trying to build a career as successful as the Air Force and not have the responsibility or income potential.
Some might ask how I ended up in Boise, Idaho...and my wife and I ask each other the same question frequently. We returned from the United Kingdom (England) in 1997 to Mountain Home Air Force Base that is 40 miles from Boise. After 4 years at Mountain Home, I retired from the Air Force to work for Bigelow Tea. I've been offered positions in California, Oregon, and Washington, but none have been enough to pull me out of Boise...and our goal is to get closer to the ocean.
Seems like I just can't get away from the academic life. I spent most of my military career going to one school or another, and finally ended up with a BS degree from Golden Gate University in Management (1986), Masters work in Counseling from the University of Maryland (1991), AAS from the Community College of the Air Force (1983), and AA from the University of Maryland (1983). I've continued my studies with filler continuing education couses, APICS Certification, and as of September 29, 2006, I completed my MBA through the University of Phoenix.
