Jeffrey Tooke:  

Life After high school, I studied for the Diocese of Buffalo at Wadhams Hall Seminary-College in Ogdensburg, NY, receiving a BA in Philosophy in 1985. Following my graduation there, I worked with the poor as an affiliate with the Franciscan Friars in New York City for a short time before going to teach elementary school in rural Vermont for a couple years, and then returning to Buffalo, NY to teach in Alden. I received my Masters in Education specializing in School Counseling in 1992. I then worked as residence manager at Benedict House, and then ran an intermediate care facility (ICF) for United Cerebral Palsy of WNY staring in 1990. In 1995, I joined the staff of then-State Senator Anthony Nanula (D-Buffalo/Niagara Falls) and in 1999, Nanula became Buffalo City Comptroller where I served as his chief of staff. After leaving the City Comptroller's office in early 2004, I supervised the block club organizing initiative called United Neighborhoods for the Community Action Organization of Erie County. I live on Buffalo's westside with my partner, John, of over fourteen years, our two dogs and two cats.
