Life
Wow... I guess the easiest thing to say about my life is that it is not at all what I expected it to be. But, in so many ways, that is a good thing! I have a wonderful husband and the greatest daughter I could ever ask for... and to think I had planned to stay single and be the hot shot career woman!!!
School
High school was great... wild, confusing... but great. I moved to PV about 2 months before the end of 8th grade from a small little suburb in northern Illinois. Getting dropped in to Margate for 2 months and then PVHS was such a culture shock. I think the first couple of years were about figuring things out and where I fit in. I made a lot of great friends at PV, but I'm always amazed that I have kept in touch with none of them. The people and events that were so important and earth-shaking at that time are now merely tiny blips in the big picture of life. I think I missed out on a lot of fun at PV because I had a lot of friends that were a couple years older than me... and when they graduated in 1981, I still had 2 more years to go! Overall, high school was great and I wouldn't really change much about it... other than I wish I had been a little more outgoing and not so much in awe of all the new people I met.
College
Oh gee... do we really have to talk about this!!! I spent 2.5 years at UC Davis... trying to get away from all the things I didn't like about PV & LA. I was room-mates with my best friend, Peggy Ninnis. We had a great time being so far from home & pushing the limits of our new-found freedom. OK, maybe I was a little wilder of the two of us... but we both had a blast. I made several "life" friends at UCD... friends who are still a big part of my life today. But, in the end, I missed PV & LA so much that I transfered back down to UCLA. I pledged KKG at Davis... what a great bunch of women I got to be friends with there! When I moved to UCLA, I never affiliated with the Kappa house there... I went to many meetings & parties, but it never quite seemed like "home" to me. UCLA (surprisingly) was where I got serious about school, so I have to admit I was not much into partying then.

e-med reqs... but got sidetracked when my daughter was born, so never finished that (yet).
For the past few years I look classes at WVC to learn Spanish. It started out just as a personal growth thing... but now I wonder if I haven't finally found my next "career". Time will tell.
2008 update...well, I wrote the first part of this several years ago and here's the update. I took up tennis in 2004 and have found what I love. I play all the time. Yes, I know I'm too old to ever go pro or make any money at tennis. And even though I keep looking for that Nike endoresement contract, it just doesn't seem to show up in the mail! (just kidding!!!) In 2006 I went to the USTA National Championships with my tennis team. I'm a singles player and had the most amazing time. I played 4 matches in 2 days, and won them all, including beating the player from the team who became the national champions. These days, tennis is what I do. I am hoping now to incorporate that into what I do for a job when I go back to work. Yes, I'm still not working and it is a great situation for my family and me.
In 2002 we moved to the Almaden Valley area of San Jose. It's a great community and we love it here. Prior to that, we always thought we'd move back to LA, but I don't think we will do that any time soon.
My daughter is now a sophomore in high school. She is a lot like I was at PVHS. She is a jock, kinda nerdy but likes to party. But she's not quite so wild as I was, which is good! She plays year-round club soccer and is also a runner. Can't wait 'til she gets her license because I am tired of driving everywhere!
2009 UPDATE
LOL...not much has changed. Still playing too much tennis and loving it! My daughter is finishing up her junior year and we are looking at colleges. Very exciting :-)
2010
Well, my daughter is a freshman at Loyola Marymount University in LA. I have yet to master Spanish, but have become somewhat of a foodie and am enjoying trying to make healthy dishes taste like old classic comfort foods. Still playing tennis daily and keeping my fingers crossed to get bumped up to the next rating level in USTA. With our daughter away from home, I see more weekends away and tennis tournaments :-)
