Life
So, what have I been up to? Professionally, I work in marketing & development for a geriatric facility to pay the rent. To stay sane I sing professionally at a church, by coincidence, the same church Amy Jo goes to! I was turning pages for the postlude when she came up to say "hi," commenting that it was halfway through mass before it occurred to her that she should be surprised to see me cantoring. Before I was there, however, I was at Sacred Heart Cathedral in Newark where I sang for the Pope, the President and Mother Theresa. I left thanks to the vagaries of ecclesiastical politics and am much happier where I am now.
I've gotten hooked doing renaissance living history (hence the photo). I make all of my own clothes for it and have quite a collection. I got into costuming in college, so it was a natural progression. I also do a lot of early music, both vocal and instrumental through the group. y manuscript? No problem. Okay, I know, I always was a bit of a geek.
While I haven't found anyone to settle down with and start a family of my own, I do have one adorable little niece who is as precocious as anything. She's got her aunt's sense of things artistic, so she loves music and painting. She's also far too cute for her father's sanity which is highly entertaining for me.
My latest endeavor involves blowtorches and molten glass. A friend got me hooked on something called "lampwork" which is a technique for making glass beads. I'm focusing on the beads themselves right now, and will be making one-of-a-kind jewelry pieces from them fairly soon. It could wind up being a great sideline business if I play it right. In the meantime, it's a fabulous creative outlet and I'm having a blast with it.
Other than that, it's the usual "life" happenings. Job hunting, so I can afford to house hunt. Dealing with the day-to-day things that everyone does.
