Jennifer's Story
Hello former classmates! I hope you all are doing well in your lives beyond high school. It is always nice to cross paths with you all again. Since High School I have stayed in Pensacola, where politics have pretty much dominated my life since graduation. I went to the University of West Florida majoring in Political Science. I was a career student for awhile, but I finally finished. :)
I believe I can trace back my first real interest in politics back to Laura Yu's run for class president in 8th grade at Wedgewood Middle School...ever since then I have been hooked. I am a conservative, which is a bit contrary to my views in high school, but very much fits who I am now. I remember talking with Melanie Rich from Class of 1993 who first pushed me to realize my true political roots as a Republican. Melanie passed away several years ago in a car wreck, but I will always remember her as an unexpected influence in my life.
I am currently working in politics, which is exaclty what I want to be doing. I...Expand for more
work both for an elected official and for a campaign, which means I get the best of both worlds. I have an amazing boss and I love what I do. (I haven't always been that fortunate!!!) I have done really awesome things (boring to those who don't care about politics) like participate in a Presidential Primary debate, drive in the Presidential and Vice Presidential motorcades, meet countless political legends and attend parties and political events. It's fun if you are into this kind of stuff!
Politics was my hobby for many years, so when I began working (long exhausting hours) in the field, I had to restructure my life and find new ways to have fun. In the past two years my best friend and I have started going to concerts from bands from our youth. We tend to lean toward bands from the late 80's and our favorite is Def Leppard! I also love SEC football, particulary University of Alabama and go to games whenever I can.
