Jennifer Freeman is the Founder/CEO of Freeman Young Consulting, LLC, a private consulting firm assisting companies, non-profits, political campaigns, school systems, and individuals in fundraising, marketing/communications, community engagement, business development, and collaborative partnerships. Ms. Freeman has over 20 years of experience in economic and community development, state government/academia, strategic planning, marketing/communications, business solution management, and fundraising and public/private partnerships.
Presently, Ms. Freeman has transitioned from being Parent and Community Liaison, Manager of Parent Center at Benjamin E. Mays High School to Volunteer Ambassador where she will assist the school with fundraising and strategic partnerships. Her past role entailed creating engaging workshops that increase parental involvement by implementing creative communication and outreach plans targeting parents, Mays faculty/staff, the local and business community and elected-officials under Title 1 federal guidelines. Programs created and implemented by Ms. Freeman were a weekly newsletter, texting, a Facebook page as well as seminars/workshops. Subjects such as, test taking skills, college essay writing, healthy living and healthy minds for retaining knowledge and eating foods which stimulate the brain, How To Be An Engaged Mays Parent, Teen Choices, Reading and Writng Literacy, Testing and Evaluation 101 are conducted. All were designed to promote the success of student academic excellence and life-long living.
Before joining the Atlanta Public Schools, Ms. Freeman worked with the Georgia Tech Enterprise Innovation Institute as a marketing catalyst and project analyst. She worked at the Georgia House of Representatives as a special project manager in the Speaker of the House’s office and the Community Affairs Committee. In this role, she responded to constituent inquiries, conducted community and business analysis and worked on special projects; master scheduler (media, VIPs ans dignitaries).
Ms. Freeman also served as Executive Assistant to the Commissioner and Communications Officer at the Georgia Department of Economic Development, the sales and marketing agency for the State of Georgia. Ms. Freeman was promoted over five times in varies positions. Ms. Freeman was responsible for overseeing the operations and internal communications of the Commissioner’s Office, private sector initiatives in the agri-business, biotechnology, international trade and automotive industries. She was also responsible for analyzing and reporting market trends to senior management to ascertain state and regional competitiveness.

resources she has gained during her professional career and civic leadership. In addition, she has developed processes and client relationship analysis in a wide array of industries. Most significantly, she played a key role in the analysis and execution of stream-lining the transfer of information from the state’s international offices and the Atlanta office. She was a member of the state’s Olympic marketing team, and the G8 Summit. Ms. Freeman helped secured thousands of jobs and millions in revenue for the State of Georgia. Other positions held with this agency include assistant communications officer, senior marketing manager, interim international trade manager and international trade services coordinator.
Ms. Freeman holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology, minor Public Relations from Spelman College in Atlanta, Georgia. She is a certified sales professional and has started the process of working toward becoming a certified economic developer. Ms. Freeman aspires to pursue a master of public policy, public administration or organizational leader.
She is on the board of the Anti-Prejudice Consortium, APAB Executive Board - Correspondence Secretary and Education Chair, NPU Chair – Education and Community Engagement Committee, Atlanta Planning Advisory Board Delegate and APAB Chair – Education Committee and Atlanta Beltline Advisory Board Member; Benjamin E. In December 2011, Ms. Freeman recorded her inaugural CD in New York City /Manhattan Center which was produced by Norman Connors, legendary producer/, musician and songwriter along with writer, composer, musician and Grammy Award Winning Jerry Peters. Show dates and a six city tour listening parties are scheduled to begin March 2012.
On November 19, 2011 Jennifer Freeman in collaboration with Norman Connors and Michael Brown paid a musical tribute to the late-great Phyllis Hyman, Tony Award nominee, soul/R&B/pop singer and actress at Landon’s Restaurant in Atlanta, Georgia.
