Jennifer's Story
Life
Since graduation I have had a lot of rewarding jobs - parish deaconess doing youth work and education, director of a crisis pregnancy center, and counselor in a Christian counseling center, but my current job is by far the most challenging and rewarding: home-schooling 3 children! Meghan (10), Gillian (almost 7) and Robin (4) are bright, healthy, beautiful -- and stubborn as their mom. We have always home-schooled and it has been a learning experience for me even more for them. What a blessing, though to watch each of them in turn learn to read, develop a love for nature, gain their own insights into the Bible, and grasp a bit of the flow of world history.
Husband Ed is a software architect working as a consultant always being shipped around the world, so we spent last summer with him - in Paris! - learning a bit of French, studying Monet, touring medieval castles,...Expand for more
and eating crepes. Just when we'd settled in back in NJ we learned the next assignment would be London. So we are in the UK now, in a lovely area outside London, learning British English, touring more medieval castles, studying Constable, and eating scones! We will be here for several months, maybe a year or two. We have found a lovely church and the girls have made friends there, and we enjoy a steady stream of freeloaders, I mean visitors :-> from the U.S. We miss family and friends but the girls are each other's best friends (when they're not killing each other)and it is good to be forced to simplify life and depend only on God and each other.
When we get back to the States I may go back to counseling very part-time, more as a mission calling than as a career. In any spare time I have I enjoy photography and scrapbooking, and read a lot to keep ahead of my students!
