Jennifer's Story
Life
After graduating I moved to Denton, Texas and attended the University of North Texas. I graduated with a BA in English and History with a minor in Education. I taught for fourteen years as an 6th, 7th, and 8th Grade Teacher, at Berry Middle School in Mesquite, Texas. I am now currently a stay at home mom and running my own cookie business Cookie Expressions by Jennifer.. I love living in the Dallas area with my husband of twenty two years, and our three children, Elena, Natalie, and Emily. I am enjoying life to its fullest.
School
I used to hate school because I never got the grades that my sisters and brother got. However, I always did my best. I wouldn't be a teacher today if it hadn't been for Mrs. Batchelder who believed in me. She always encouraged me and told me that I would be an excellent teacher. I taught in Mesquite ISD for 14 years. I have been recognized several times as teacher of the month, I also became a team leader and the Department Head. I have been personally asked for by parents to teach their children. I love teaching kids and showing them that there are teachers out there who care. I want to be just like Mrs. Batchelder who cared, encouraged, and inspired students to do their best. I still love teaching, but resign...Expand for more
ed my position in 2015 to become a stay at home mom.
College
I started my education at North Central Texas College and then transferred to the University of North Texas. I graduated with a BA in English and History. I minored in Education. I taught 6th, 7th and 8th graders. I completed my Masters in Secondary Education in 2010. Eventually, I would like to get my Doctorate and teach at the college level.
Workplace
I taught Creative Writing, dyslexic reading, and a Information Problem Solving, and Destination Imagination. I was the head sponsor of the National Junior Honors Society at Berry Middle School for over ten years. I resigned my teaching job in 2015, to become a stay at home mom. From August 2017-February 2019 I helped support my sister's cancer battle by going to almost all of her appointments, until we sadly list her in February of 2019. That would not of have been possible if I had been teaching. I treasure those moments with my sister. Now I am staying busy with my girls and running my own cookie business, Cookie Expressions by Jennifer.
Life has been very different than I imagined it would be, but I feel blessed with my family and friends. I'm looking forward to seeing what else God has in store for us and my new adventure.
