Jennifer's Story
Life
Three cats, no kids, married the high school guy (Steve) in '95. He does photography and Photoshop stuff. Still best friends with Becky Dunn, who is now Rebecca deVries and lives with husband Josh in Salem, MA. I do marketing and promotions work at Stanford U. Live in San Francisco at a place that used to be a punk rock concert venue/animal farm. Thought I'd go back to school for an MFA in fiction so I could write and teach, but decided not to go the academic route with my writing. I want money. Not sure how I will get it, but I know it ain't growin' in the community college faculty parking lot.
School
School is a blur. I think I graduated, that's all I remember.
College
Tried FDU, tried William Paterson, then Steve and I drove out to SF. Graduated from SF State with a BA in English/Creative Writing.
Workplace
I was at CVS in Paramus Park for what seems like a very long time. Then I worked at a place called Sesco, and Becky worked there with me, too. Then Steve and I thought, hey, New Jersey's kinda boring, let's move to California. We'd never ...Expand for more
visited, but figured we would live there. Got married, got in the car, and drove.
First job was at a restaurant on Fisherman's Wharf as the bookkeeper.
Then I worked for Looksmart.com as a writer/editor/customer service editor. The editorial department there was like a sweat shop for writers, only you got a really nice cubicle. I sat in a really nice cubicle next to a girl named Lisa. After I took part in the IPO, I cashed out, bought a VW, and went looking for more money. Back then that's just what you did.
I found more money at another dot.com job - Lisa had moved on and decided to take me with her. However, our new venture only lasted about six months. We got sacked a week before Christmas.
After six months of unemployment, I got the job I have now, doing marketing and promotions for the Stanford Blood Center. And wouldn't you know it, I snagged a job for my best bud Lisa. She wound up at another department as of last year, getting a crap-ton more money, but I think I actually talk to her more now. She just had a baby girl, Aoki, who has a mohawk.
