Jennifer's Story

Life After graduating from Lafayette in 1991 I attended Eastern Mennonite University. My oldest son was born in 1994 and I graduated in 1996 with a degree in Early childhood education. We moved to WIndow Rock Arizona where I taught preschool and Kindergarten for 4 years. My youngest son was born in 1998. I got remarried in 2000 and moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico. We lived in Albuquerque for 7 years. I was a reading facilitator at Emerson Elementary in Albuquerque. I taught 1st grade for 3 years before accepting this position. I figured I could impact more children's learning in this position. We moved to Maryland 2 weeks ago in order to be closer to family. It is a big change from ALbuquerque but we love it here. I love being close to family. I recently accepted a position at a tutoring center as a Program Director. I will work in this position for 3-6 months and then I will become the Director of my own center. It should ...Expand for more
be an exciting journey and much different than being a classroom teacher. My oldest son Joseph is 12 and is getting ready to enter the 7th grade next year. I cannot believe how old he is already and how tall. I am 6'2" and he comes to my eyes already and wears a men's size 9 shoe!! My youngest is 8 and will be in the 3rd grade. He is certainly too smart for his own good. They are both great kids and I can't imagine life without them. My husband works for the department of homeland security. He is a screener for TSA. He has 3 children from a previous marriage and I actually have 2 grandchildren from his older children. In case you didnt figure it out, he is older than me by 13 years. My husband and I also opened a children's hair salon 2 years ago. It is called Kids Jungle Cuts and it has been a lot of fun and hard work. We have been open 2 yeardsand already have 5000 customers in our database. It has grown very quickly.
