Jerilyn's Story
I recently joined this site. I came to MHS under sad circumstances, as my mother had just passed away from cancer and my father moved to Marshalltown. I remember that I had a few good friends for whom I am thankful, because it made a difficult time easier for me. However, many years later while I was teaching HS English in California I had amnesia and it has taken me years to get my memory back. In particular, I can barely remember my friends at MHS because I no longer have my yearbook and I can't read the names in the one on this site to connect them with the pictures.
The name which stands out to me so far is Ann Trowbridge (ushers! I remewmber you!) I can recognize a few other friends from pictures, but I can't recall names. Also I remember Bruce Hardy by name, because he had such a great sense of humor...and Craig Swanson, who was my dearest friend. We had some great times covering events for the school newspaper. Neither of those two are in Classmates. I have a BA in English from the U of I and an MA from the U of St. Thomas and am now retired from teaching. If anyone remembers me I would like to hear from you, because I'll remember you with just a few hints.

luctant to put my location anywhere on the Internet--(the stories I could tell are astounding). It's a great place to visit! I am a bit reclusive and spend my time writing, gardening and quilting and anything else which can be done with my hands. I like to fix things, restore furniture, sculpt.... Sometimes I don't think of going out for a week or more at a time. I'm also an avid reader.
I have often wondered about you, my classmates...where you are and what you are doing. I sure wish you all the best. I wish I could come to the reunion, but I feel that it's likely that no one remembers me and I would just be standing around trying to call up memories..
By the way, I remember our newspaper editor, but I cannot remember your name! It was a pleasure working with you! I enjoyed attending high school with all of you, though I had spent my first 15 years in a very small town. Well, there's nothing like opening up one's perspective, and moving to a huge city in LA county to teach did just that. No provincialism for me!
