Jerrold's Story
Life:
Graduated from St. Mikes in 1969, attended Wright Jr. College during the day and worked at UPS on the docks at night. Enlisted in the Army in April, 1970 and retired as a Sergeant Major in 1993. I have been married for 37 years, have one daughter and one son and three grandchildren. Have lived in Washington State since 1992.

Military Service to my Country - of which I am most proud to have served:
Enlisted in the U.S. Army April 1970 - June 1993. Stationed in Louisiana, California, Georgia, South Carolina, Texas, Washington State, Kentucky and Tennessee. Served overseas in Vietnam (very brief stint during phasedown 1973), Korea, and Saudi Arabia/Iraq (First Gulf War). Retired as a Sergeant Major in 1993.

ting and amazing work and life travel road since my first job of delivering newspapers in 1962. Plans hereafter include finalization of the building of my new home this year, relaxing of course, and definitely a road trip to Chicago and then North Carolina to see my grandchildren. From there, other then staying healthy so that I can enjoy my retirement and with living and enjoying life one day at a time, I have no initial long range plans other than an extended trip to Scandinavia to connect with relatives in Sweden, Denmark and Norway.
Over the years, I have often thought of the good times that I had at St. Mikes, the friendships that I made there, the teachers that helped develop the future me, while still looking back on those friendships that I wish that I should have made. And having left Chicago so early and for so long, I've always wondered where life's path has taken so many. Sad to see that St. Mikes had to close and the school buildings turned into condos. Also, very sad to see the current state of Chicago, the record murder rate, the increase in street crime and the lack of support for the Chicago PD. It is not the Chicago that I remember and loved. OK, on a positive note, my Chicago accent remains very distinct. And lastly - Go Cubs!! This is the year!!
