Jerry's Story
At the age of ten, I moved from Merry Oaks in Chatham County, where I attended Moncure School, to La Grange where I was a resident of Kennedy Memorial Home, a Baptist children's home. After attending La Grange School, I graduated from North Lenoir High School in 1965. Upon receiving my B.A. from Mars Hill College in 1969, I taught school in Charlotte and Raleigh for four years. ter of Library Science degree from East Carolina University. I then served as a reference librarian at public libraries in Goldsboro and Winston-Salem, specializing in local history and genealogy. For twenty-two years I served as head librarian of the Forsyth County Public Library's North Carolina Collection. After 35 years as a teacher and librarian, I retired in 2007. I continue to make my home in Winston-Salem.
