Jerry's Story
So, you all remember me as a skinny, bush-haired nerdy guy. Besides academics, I also excelled as a mediocre runner in cross-country and track. I was in a lot of organizations like the speech team and Spanish Club. After graduation, I completed a B.S. In Physics at University of Illinois, then was hired by She'll as a geophysicist. While at She'll, I completed a MS in Physics and U of New Orleans. I had positions in New Orleans and Houston, and ended my Shell career in Houston. I took my retirement from Shell in 2011, and have been consulting for 3 1/2 years. ( CogginsGeosciences.dot.com)
I live in the Houston suburb of Katy with Angela, my wife of 28 years,, and my youngest son, who is still in college. My two older sons are out in the world, but still within 3 hours of home.

ll, I'm not skinny anymore. I play a lot of tennis, do some bike riding, and have hobbies that include vintage computing, writing, and electronics. So, still pretty nerdy. As a consultant, I am kind of semi-retired and take a lot if time off. My wife teaches part time at a private school, so we are trying to travel a bit. We've made it to London, Edinborough, Paris, Cuba, Costa Rica, and Hawaii. I've had brief positions in China and Malaysia.
In the recent past, I have seen a few former Spartans, including Tim Smith (T Dub), Jon Cremeens, Ace Eilts, Bill Bray and faculty members Ron Hackstadt and Jim Sunday. I keep in email touch with Greg Roe, Jeff and Cindy Barclay, and a few others. I've made it to a few reunions as well.
If you make it to the Houston area, look me up. I'm in the book.
