Jerry (Frank)'s Story

Was first baby born in Henderson, North Carolina in 1959. My parents and my brother Jeff and I, moved to the Washington DC area when I was very young, early 1960's. My father was a DC policeman and my mother a home maker. My sister Karen came along in 1963 while we lived in Seat Pleasant, MD. We moved to Suitland for three years, then Forestville, where my parents lived until their deaths. Mom died in 1995 and Dad in 2006. They are buried in Cheltenham Veteran's Cemetery in Cheltenham, MD. Forestville, Maryland was in the Suitland High District but I attended Crossland High for vocational training. I was in the electronics program. Mr. Pyle was out for a year with a heart attack and the program was never the same. In some ways I felt like I missed out on a lot of high school stuff because I lived so far away. After high school I worked at PEPCo for about a year, until the drive downtown Washington, DC drove me south. I moved to Henderson, NC in 1978 and looked for a new start. I worked at Currin's Minute Mart, with my Grandfather, for a short time as well as Wilson Electric. Then in 1979 I became a policeman in the City of Henderson, NC. I attended Carey Baptist Church where I met my wife Cary, in the choir loft. We were married in January 1981. After 2 ½ years with the Henderson Police Department I started to look for a bigger and more exciting location to continue my police career. In November 1981, we moved back to Maryland where I was hired by the Prince George¿s County Police. The ironic thing is I had two things I swore I would never do¿ one was being a policeman like my fa...Expand for more
ther and the other was moving back to Prince George¿s County. I never say, I will never, anymore. We lived in several areas while in Maryland and made lots of great friend at church, work and home. We lived in Morningside (81-85), Upper Marlboro (85-91) and Prince Frederick (91-2005). We attended First Baptist of Camp Springs (81-87), Riverdale Baptist (87-92/93) and then First Baptist of Calvert County (92/92- 2005). I served the citizens for 23 ½ years until I retired in 2005. After my retirement, my wife and I relocated to beautiful Erwin (Unicoi Co.), TN¿ located in the north-east corner near Virginia and North Carolina. Cary and I both worked as instructional assistants here with the Unicoi County School System and she now works again as a social worker with the State, in Carter County. I sub from time to time and currently am an assistant coach at Milligan College, working with some great young ladies. Don¿t make a lot of money but I¿m earning my doctorate in vollyballology and meals are included. We are still active in church and still sing in the choir. We are even fortunate to sit beside each other in the choir loft. I really enjoy singing and playing the guitar at church. We enjoy bluegrass music and attend concerts whenever possible and enjoy parking lot jam sessions too. We have two wonderful daughters; Amanda, who is finishing her degree in Social Work and Jessica, who is in grad school for Physical Therapy. Look us up on My space, Face book or Classmates¿ I go by my middle name exclusively now; Frank... as some people still know me as Jerry. Please keep in touch!
