Jerry's Story
I'm retired and I put on classic car shows to raise money for childrens hospitals.
I left Vernon in January 1964 for the U.S. Army. There were good times, bad times and a lot of countries. I took an early retirement in 1983. After retirement I moved to Yell County Arkansas, my birth place. I will always think of Vernon as my home town, what can I say, I grew up there. Sometimes I miss Vernon and the friends I had in high school. The best time in my life was 1962 and 1963, to bad we can't go back in time.
More stuff from me, This is Golden Hands.
Golden Hands You know, just think back when your kids were little. When they were little and they fell, Our hands were there to catch them or make it better if we missed. Our hands could heal cuts, scrapes and little broken hearts. They would look to you for a drink of water or even a smile. If they were watching a scary movie on TV they would be holding our hands because they knew they would be safe. As time...Expand for more
goes by they look to your hands to get that bike or that new dress they wanted. If the toys break they would look to our hands to fix them. At this time in life they don't think much about our hands but they did know they are there. The teenage years came and they needed other hands to help. They would always remember that one special friend that was there to help them go through the pain of growing up. They always came back to the Golden Hands to help repair that car or dress and most of the time their special friend was there looking for our Golden Hands too. Adult years changed them a little, they found out that they had hands of their on. They would sometimes forget the Golden Hands that was always there for them. No mater how old they got if any thing went wrong they would run back to the Golden Hands. They had kids and they had to learn how to have Golden Hands. As you have kids or grandchildren the cycle of the Golden Hands starts all over again.
