Jerry's Story
Life
I was born in Miami but i grew up in Lakeland florida.I was just a month into 7th grade at Kathleen Jr. High and my idiot parents moved us up to leominster Mass where my step father's family lived.I had no clue what i was in for.Kids were so much different there.Some were a little to reserved and standoffish and hard to get to know.A lot of the guys thought they were a 70's version of the fonz,and the hotties were a little to stuck on theirself.It was turning my stomach. Kids in Florida were for the most part openly friendly and would conversate as if they always knew you.So for a lack of a better terminology,i went into major culture shock! LOL.And it lasted 5 years.I did meet some wonderful folks there and did manage to have a little fun from time to time.My best friend was Barney Royer.I no longer liked school and had no goal in life.Absolutely no self asteem,and a feeling of unworthyness.It was too much of a change in lifestyle and it beat me up.I quit school at 16 and guess i was about 17 when i decided to go back home to Florida and maybe recapture my life.After 5 years in Mass,i had changed so much i was in culture shock in my home town...Expand for more
.But life got better.I worked for local moving and storage at first,driving trucks.Eventually became a volunteer firefighter and took a lot of fire science classes and minimum standards.I was finally professional.I excellerated in my career.It was in my blood as there was 3 other firefighters in my family,all retired now.I could of never acomplished this in leominster.I cant imagine workin in a plastic shop for life.I do miss close friends there and keep somewhat in touch with them.In 94 , my chest was crushed by a runaway hose with an appliance attached.I nearly bled out in my chest.My bottom lip almost severed and bottom teeth knocked out.I also lost some gum tissue.It took 5 months to go back to full duty.Oct 95 i took a settlement,said goodbye to the fire dept and bought a harley softail.Then back to driving trucks again.I live in Kinston N.C. now.Friendly people,simple life and cheap rent.In my career,a partner and i brought 2 CPR patients back and i was the first one to touch and help deliver an infant into this world.Thanks for visiting,Yall Come Back Ya Hear!!
