Jesse's Story

Life Life has been a challenge but it has also been fun. As you have all found out, the real world is not like high school. But with God’s help I have found my way. After high school I attended Tacoma Vocational Tech. School for about a year, studying to be an engineers technician. Before I finished, I got a job working in the Bremerton Navel Shipyard (1961). There I became a welder. In the fall of 62 while on vacation in Texas I met some young ladies who lived in Chicago. I began corresponding with one of them. She invited me to come to Chicago. Later I decided to move to Chicago. Arriving in Chicago I got a job as a welder. Later I got promoted to a drafting position with the same company. That move lead to several other job changes until I became a computer programmer in 76. I worked in that field until 90. d much more fun, plus it only takes 15 minuets to get to work. I feel like I’m retired some times. I was married to my wife Aug 6, 1966 and it been a good 34 year marriage. We have two sons and two grandchildren. By the way, I did not marry the young lady I came to Chicago to see. Thing work that way some times. I still love sports although I don’t play as much. It has been great to see and cheer for Michael Jordan and the Chicago Bulls as well as the 86 Chicago Bears. I use to come back to Tacoma at least once a year, but since my father died and my mother moved to DC to live with my sister, I don’t have much reason to visit. One day I hope to come back. There is something magic about the place where you grew up. Chicago is a great city. I love it here but I can’t forget about hometown Tacoma. I have some great memories from those years. When I finished High School the future looked scary, but I need not have feared, Christ has been with me; I hope he has been with you.
