Jesse's Story
Life
After leaving Rancho Cotate, Sarah Owen and I attended Santa Rosa Junior College, graduating in 1996 with an A.S. in Geology. We both went on to Sonoma State, graduating in 1999 with a B.S. in Geology.
After graduating from SSU, I began working in the environmental field, doing air quality work with Sonoma Technology. Sarah and I joined the Peace Corps, and served in Kyzylorda, Kazakhstan in 2000-2001. I taught environmental sciences there at the local university. r 11th, and from 2002-2003 I worked on my master's degree at UC Berkeley in Applied Geophysics.
I then worked for a year as a contract geologist for the US Geological Survey, studying Central Alaska. Now I work full-time as a geologist for Todd Engineers in Emeryville, doing both environmental and water-supply hydrogeology.
Sarah and I have been happily married 10 years now, and live in Emeryville with our cat, Reggie Tyrell. We enjoy the outdoors, hiking, camping, travel, good friends, and practice Tai Chi.
