Jessica's Story
I attended a variety of schools, and ended up leaving my high school after two years to take an early college entrance at Simon's Rock College in Great Barrington, Mass. After spending a year there, I enlisted in the military while finishing my associate's in humanities. I married the first time when I was in the military to a local boy from Nashua, N.H., and adopted my stepdaughter by my first marriage and had my second child four days after my first wedding anniversary.
The marriage did not last, unfortunately, and I decided to resume my education. I applied as an adult student to a number of women's colleges, and accepted an offer as a Davis Scholar at Wellesley College when I was 23. Health c...Expand for more
oncerns kept causing me to take a leave of absence, but I finally finished my studies in comparative history (my focus was colonialism of the northeastern American continent) and peace and justice studies (and here my focus was on sectarian causes of violent conflict) in 2015.
I met my second husband just before starting at Wellesley, and we married in 2007, just a couple of years after I started there. We're still happily married after almost two decades together Together, we raised the children of my early first marriage, who are now grown, and I do a bit of volunteer work here in the Boston area.
Anyone who remembers me will be completely unsurprised to know that my main hobby is still reading!
