Jessica's Story
Life
I lived in Oakboro, NC all my life. I'm an only child, and my parents separated when I was 15. I've always been extremely close to them and my family. I was singing before I could talk, and I love music. I've gone to Oakboro First Baptist Church all my life, and was in the adult choir from the time I was 12. I also kept the nursery during Sunday School and was in Ladies Ensemble and Handbell Choir. After high school, I went to Wingate University and made some great friends. I graduated summa cum laude with University Honors with a BA in Communication, emphasis in Journalism, and a double minor in Spanish and English. During my senior year of college I met a GA boy named Brandon Colquitt at Coyote Joe's in Charlotte. his apt. in Athens for the weekend. He asked me to be his girlfriend that night, and we've been dating ever since. After I graduated in May 2005, I moved to Athens to live with him and work permanently. After a few mths. of rest and relaxation and getting everything changed from NC to GA, I got a job as the Staff Writer at the Oglethorpe Echo in Lexington, GA, which is where Brandon grew up. Brandon and I are so happy; we got engaged in November 2005 and were married on March 10, 2007. We had basically already been married since we had been living together since I moved to GA, so marriage wasn't an adjustment for us at all. I love being Jessica Colquitt! I know I'm where I'm supposed to be in life, and I'm with the person God meant for me. I miss my family, but I see them every 6 weeks, and NC will always be my "true" home!
