Jethro's Story
Who am I? Who was I? Why all the questions? Oi voi!
High School was fun. I enjoyed playing music with the guys from Ivory Strings: Garry Gammon, Travis Colllison, Jeff Bush, Erik Truelove, Rusty Church, and others. Wish I would have concentrated a little more on school and enjoyed being a teenager more. I dropped out of one of these schools after my junior year, then got my GED and started working in a door factory. That sucked. I married at 18 to someone that I should not have. That sucked too.
I began to develop carpal tunnel syndrome in my wrist, so I left the door factory and went to a commercial art school. After graduation I moved to Southern California where I illustrated a medical catalog then began selling medical supplies. After about a year, I moved back to the Rogue Valley area and decided to pursue a degree in CAD at Rogue Community College. I ended up transferring to Oregon State University and achieved a Bachelor of Science in Forest Management in 1995. I continued to pursue music, though I focused more on solo work on the piano. In 1992, I recorded and released 'Pieces', with the funding of a friend from OSU, Kyle French. Although we produced a limited amount of these, they sold quickly. Wish I could have made more...
After graduating from OSU, I worked as a forester for a local timber mill, cruising timber in Northwes...Expand for more
t Oregon and Southwest Washington. In 1998 I began a consulting business and went back to OSU for an MBA degree. Halfway through the program, my marriage finally ended and my life kind of hit a wall. My business disolved and I left the marriage with nothing--only a shirt, a pair of pants, and my boots. Literally. I went through lots of court battles and unpleasantness and came away having to pay lots of money every month to that fine upstanding woman. That sucked.
Then, in beginning of 2000, I met Jolene from Roseburg. And things began to get better. I knew I would marry her after our first date, which was pretty strange as I had decided I would never marry again. We married in December of the same year. I started another forestry consulting company in our garage. A couple of years later we had our son, Keegan.
Keegan is now 6 and attending Kindergarten. Jolene and I have been married for nearly 8 years and we like each other and love each other. My oldest, Abram is 19 and graduated high school in Corvallis last year. Mariah, my daughter turned 11 this year. My business has grown steadily over the years and, while it is stressful and challenging at times, it is a fulfilling endeavor. I still play music and write songs. I am hoping to begin recording again soon in collaboration with my brother Josh.
