Jill's Story
Life
I graduated from UNI in 1990 with a degree in graphic design and a journalism minor. I married Steve Brimeyer, a Hempstead guy, in 1992. I served as editor of the Rockwell Collins employee magazine for quite awhile, but left to stay home with my kids (Alissa, born in 1995, and Zach, born in 1999) and write freelance.
We moved to the suburbs of Des Moines (Ankeny) in 2002 a few years ago for my husband's job (he's a manager at the Trane company). I again worked at a "place" for a year -- editing Iowa Commerce magazine and serving as associate editor of The Iowan and Iowa Gardening magazines. th the kids. I now have the good fortune to edit a magazine, IA.biz, published by Stonehand Publishing Group in DSM. So I'm blessed to have a career I enjoy that still allows me to function as a stay-at-home mom (albeit one that's often glued to a laptop and often has to stay up really late!).
Most important to me, though, is continuing to grow in my Christian faith... and in my love for the Lord.
And, yes, I'm still a bit of a dork, although the beauty of being over 40 is that now it's not only okay, it's kinda fun. Although my tween has been encouraging me to avoid singing along to Muzac in the grocery store, so I do try not to mortify her too much. :-)
