Jill's Story
I am married to a wonderful man, Tim. We had the fortunate experience of Tim getting a temporary transfer to Portland, OR only a few months after we met. With that came many exciting trips back and forth as well as chances to travel other places we would not have had otherwise. In all I think our state count of trips together was at 13 with some of our favorite places being Orlando, FL; Santa Barbara, CA, the Olympic Peninsula, WA, the Oregon Coast and most of all... Pike's Peak, CO where he proposed in July 2006.
After he returned we went to Vegas to get married... not quite how it sounds. We were married at the Paris hotel in Las Vegas, a nice small wedding with a low key honeymoon. With all of the traveling we had done - we were not excited to see another airport. We stayed a couple of extra days in Vegas and then went on to the Grand Canyon. It was December and the entire lodge was beautifully decorated for the season with a bit of fresh snow on the ground outside. It was quiet and peaceful.
Since then we have moved into our new home and have spent most of the last year getting everything "fixed" up. The backyard is still not quite done, okay it is still a big dirt center with just the side yards and part of the perime...Expand for more
ter done. With summer we will be waiting for cooler months to finish.
In the mean time we are waiting to adopt a new baby. We were certified this past Spring and are very much looking forward to little footsteps running around the house. Hopefully there will be more to this part of the story in the near future.
My life prior to meeting Tim in '05 had been pretty career focused. After graduating from ASU I went to the University of Oregon with the intention of moving on to Seattle after graduation. My first year in Eugene was one of their rainiest seasons on record... I love the rain but that pretty much changed my decision to move back to Phoenix in '98.
After returning to Phoenix I started in a career with BSB Architects and Planners where I had been for nearly 10 years. I grew there from fresh out of school to a senior designer with a few awards under my belt. I had a wonderful opportunity to work with many great designers while working there and learned so much. Unfortunately the company environment has changed considerably the past year or so and it was no longer a place for me. So this present day I am out on a job hunt... but I have a pretty exciting prospect that I am hoping will happen here in the near future.
