Jill's Story
Life
I graduated from Wakefield in 1967. Continued my education at NOVA. Transferred to VCU in 1970, and FINALLY finished with a BA in History in 1973. Jobs in History without a MA were not existant back then. So I worked for a while at MCV as a Unit Secretary. Learned alot about medicine . I met my Husband at MCV. We married in 1977. We are still together, and our children are grown. Our daughter is a senior at VCU in Theatre. I would have never believed it. I also did the Nursing school thing when my 2 children were tiny . 6months and 2 1/2 years. We moved several timees. My husband's job kept us on the move. Eventually we landed in the Northern Neck of Va. Along with our 7 cats. With kids grown I am now job hunting. What fun. It has been a busy life.
School
I lived for Ringo when I was at Wakefield. Pictures in the locker, names of the Beatles on my Wakefield notebook. Which I have to this day. I actually let my daughter use it for a whle. Then I got smart and confiscated it before...Expand for more
there was any damage done. I remember when we called the new wing the "new wing" because it was. I wonder what it is called now. What are they calling the boy's gyn and the girls gym? Throwing sophomores out of Senior court was always great fun.
College
Well, there are things that are synomous to College Life. Parties, All nighters, for study or party. Lousy cafeteria food. No money. Most of all that incredible feeling of being on your own. No parents . Of course I was an angel at home when I was living there. However, at VCU there was way too much happening , and a boy friend to enjoy it all with. The big taboo at my house was no DC after dark. I was out that dorm door at night as fast as my feet would carry me. Weekends weeknight, I didn;t care I came and went as I saw fit. Dam freedom was sooo intoxicating. However I didn;t get too nuts. I studied and wrote , and read like I was supposed to. After all I do still love History. I preferr books that are straight history to novels any day.
