Jim's Story
Lived in Amherst until 4th grade at which time my family moved to Wellington. Attended school in Wellington until my senior year when we moved back to Amherst, due to my parents' divorce, and graduated from M. L. Steele H.S.
After high school, I went to college for BA and MS degrees.
Post college I worked in hospital administration in Ohio and Indiana. After a couple years of boredom in that career field, I received my commission in the Air Force and went to flight school.
My first assignment was flying...Expand for more
B-52s. I later got picked up for the B-1B program. Flew C-130s in the Guard for a few years then the AC-130U Gunship with Air Force Special Operations. I've flown hundreds of combat missions during Desert Storm, Bosnia, Kosovo, Enduring Freedom, and Iraqi Freedom.
Retired from active duty in 2010 after 24 years. Went to work for a defense contractor for 2 years as a software engineer. After that, spent 2 years traveling full time with my wife.
We've been married for 35 years and have two grown sons.
