Jim's Story

I spent a good portion of my younger years in Asia. We moved to Saigon in August 1962, lived there for 2 1/2 great years until the escalating war resulted in the evacuation of all dependents in August 1965. My mom, younger brother and I lived in Bangkok 1965-1966 while Dad finished his assignment in Saigon, then we moved to Manila for a year. n East Anchorage High School Thunderbird. Attended the University of Kansas on an NROTC scholarship, graduated and was commissioned in 1974. I spent the next 30 years as a Naval Flight Officer flying the P-3 Orion, and was stationed primarily in the Pacific. I retired from the Navy in 2004 and worked for 9 years in the office of the Executive Vice Chancellor of the University of Kansas Medical Center, then retired-retired to become full-time volunteer/grandfather/traveler.
