Jim's Story
Life
I came to Utah in 91 for graduate school and have been stuck ever since. I became a partner in a architectural firm in the late 90's and as of the beginning of 2005 started my own firm, Darling Architecture. Best professional decision of my life. My architectural firm focuses on custom resort properties both residential and commercial in the mountain west region.
The same week a graduated with my Masters from the University of Utah in 93 I got married to my wife Tracy. We've been together ever since. We waited a long time to have children and have one daughter, Emmy (6 years old) the light of my life. Unfortunately my wife has had lower back problems for most of her adult life and this condition escalated to the point in which surgery was required. Her lowest two vertebra are now fused to her pelvis with the help of six screws and three pins. I would not wish back problems to my worst enemy. For the most part things are much better now (3 years after surgery) but it was a very trying and difficult time for my family. Through rehabilitation and some time we had hoped for a good outcome and possibly the oppurtunity to have more children but that will not be possible. Although Tracy is active, works and for most days only has moderate pain caring a child in the third trimester would do further damage to her...Expand for more

School
Boy back in High School you think God this is the hardest time of your life, what a laugh. Boy the cards life deals you. Looking back at MHS 90% was a great time.
One of my proudest moments is when the tennis team went undefeated for 1986. Andy, Alex, Todd and I being seniors made this extra special. A first for MHS tennis and I don't believe its been done since. I also much enjoyed soccer and had another trill of my life to make five goals in one game. Yah, so the team sucked but five goals!
Keggers: Oh, the parties at Alex Bobotas river. What a drunken good time. I keep in contact with Alex and for those of you who may not know he just had a son in September 2007. A very proud daddy.
College
Sent off to college in Philadelphia (Spring Garden College) coming from little Montoursville was quite a culture shock to say the least. What a learning experience. I started with about 150 in my freshmen architecture class and in the end only 25 or so survived.
Off to Utah to graduate school. Why? Well I wanted to go to the rockies for the skiing and fly fishing. After visiting Jackson Hole I knew the rockies were the place for me. Graduate school was a breeze compared to Spring Gardens Architectural program. No sleepless nights and I graduated youngest in my class two years later.
