Jim's Story
I live in southern California. I never, ever miss the snow and cold. I've worked in the computer field, in a number of different jobs. I've been a programmer, particularly in the healthcare field. I've been a writer for computer magazines, but I'm now a systems engineer for a clothing retailer. I recently finished my master of arts in political science from Cal State Long Beach. My plan is, as I approach retirement, is to teach political science at a community college somewhere here in California. I like to read; I'm on about my third Kindle. I also like amateur astronomy, photography, and travel. I've been lucky and have been able to travel quite a bit. My favorite places are Moorea ...Expand for more
in French Polynesia and Italy. I'm reasonably fluent in Italian and constantly trying to improve. My favorite band is a local band, The Offspring. Honestly, a big goal in my life has been to put my high school years behind me. It was a difficult time for me, with my mother passing away during the junior year. I've been fairly successful at that goal; the past is far enough behind me now that I can look back and see some of the positives as well as the negatives. I haven't been married and I had no children. I'm pretty happy with the way things have turned out. I can't say I planned any of it, but I've tried to be flexible as opportunities and challenges arose. What more can anyone do?
