Jim's Story
Life
Went to Oklahoma State for 3 years, then had to finish at Central State to get the teaching degree I was after. Taught Distributive Ed at Choctaw HS for 5 years...then like so many, got into the oil & gas business in OKC and have worked in O&G leasing or right-of-way ever since. Lived in Chicago from 1990-2000 working on acquiring right of way for highways, airports, fiber optic cables and pipelines. Finally got a call to head to Florida and hopefully here to stay. Have been working for Florida Gas Transmission Company in Tampa and now in Orlando. Enron was the parent company...so it's been interesting! Got into diving in 2001 and had many wonderful experiences.....swimming with the sharks, stingray encounters and petting a wild dolphin 5 times as he swam by checking me out. ime to hide in my closet 3 times in six weeks to feel my apartment shake from Hurricanes Charley, Frances & Jeanne. And...beleive it or not, last October, felt the earthquake that was centered out in the Gulf of Mexico. So...it's been fun!
College
My best friend, Nancy Jones London, and I had our first class together. We got there early....one of those huge classes at Engineering North. Everyone piling in....then in comes Steve Barto. We call him over to sit down.....he says...."this IS xxx class, right?" We kinda laugh and say "No!...this is yyy Class." He gets up and leaves, thinking he's lost. Then the instructor comes in and says...."Welcome to xxx Class" !!!!!Holy Crap!!!!! Nancy and I are in the wrong place!!!! We get up and haul ass looking for the right classroom. Late on our first day.
