Jim's Story
I piddled around town after graduation trying to get grants and loans to go to college. That didn¿t pan out, so I joined Uncle Sam¿s canoe club. I spent the next 6 years on active duty in Admiral Rickover¿s Nuclear Navy. I served in USS Will Rogers, SSBN659, a fleet ballistic missile submarine. She was the last of the ¿41 For Freedom¿ I spent another 5 years in the Navy Reserve after leaving active duty. After failing in a Machine Shop business with my Dad, I¿ve spent the last 25 years or so working in the Process Engineering and Quality Assurance Field. One of these days I¿ll throw a University some cash and get a piece of paper that says I know what I¿m doing. Currently, I am a Project Leader for a company that manufactures composite components for airframes and engines. Prior to this position, I was an application, design, and process engineer for several companies that manufactured Hermetic Connectors. Even did a short stint as a QA Manager.
I got married the day of our 10 year High School Reunion. Married in the morning, Reunion that night. Don¿t knock it, we got a bottle of Ripple for being the ¿newlyweds¿

graduate of Mt. Healthy. We have been married 19 years this August. (somehow feels longer!) We have 2 children, Ashley 17 and Joe 16.
I spend my evenings helping my 17-year-old daughter Ashley with her honors homework. (Somebody needs to help me!) I'm teaching her to drive now.... please pray for me! We don't even want to think about boy friends. She used to play Soccer and run track for Northwest high School, but she wants to be a Vet, and studies come first.
My 16-year-old son Joe is now 5'10" and a size 12 shoe. Yes...he really is my son! We spend much of our free time playing Pokemon and Yu-Gi-Oh. Joe was diagnosed at 4 with Autism, and Epilepsy at 6. (Believe me when I say the drug companies have bought off the CDC.) He's now in high school and doing great. He finally gets to ride a bike, and wants to drive. He used to participate in Special Olympics and has won a bunch of medals. Now he prefers to watch the girl¿s soccer team.
My wife takes care of us. The pay is lousy but the benefits really stink! It's a decision we made when Ashley was born. One of us had to stay home and raise the family; the other had to get a job. She lost the coin toss.
