Jim's Story
I have two wonderful children, am divorced, am retired and living in Austin, TX. I have an undergraduate in chemistry and geology, a graduate degree in city planning. Those are the stats. Living in TX is suitable because of the abundant examples of geologic events over a loooong period. The people are also very nice and mostly kind. Son is an executive chef in Chicago. I have a little chef running around in my head. It's all chemistry in the final count. That's what I like about chemistry ... you can have your own opinions but there is no fuss about the facts. Right now I am studying architecture. Just moved out of my house and don't really know what is next. I have had a really fun and difficult and full life so far. You nor I could have ever made this stuff up. Haven't been that attentive about keeping my school connections. I am available to write and remember until. .... . Leave a message, say howdy and we can have a proper conversation. I have lived in MD, OK, MO, IA, TX, WA, CO, FL, KY, OH, NJ, & DC. Done a lot of different things...Expand for more
as occupations such as drive an 18 wheel truck, 50' yacht, work for the airlines, city planning (water and sewer lines mostly). Scout leader, president of Austin's tree planting community, developed recreational parks and recreation areas. Interests are people, geology, furniture and stained glass crafting. I am kind of putting whatever on paper to see what sticks. Write me and we'll speak. Sure miss Sheldon and the way of life, now that I am older. I am glad I was raised (mostly) in Sheldon. There are many more places that would not have presented the correct opportunities that Sheldon did. Doing 1 1/2 years in Paducah was also excellent. A whole different way of thinking and doing. I loved both places. I remember the first day we were in Paducah, we went to purchase cleaning supplys and were not allowed to purchase them. The 'blue laws' were still being enforced in that part of Kentucky. I have heard the corn grow in Iowa and also knew of a nearby still in Kentucky.. What a hoot. Just would never have thought of the mostly fun journey.
