Jim's Story

Life has been good to me so far... Married Joyce, a career Naval officer 33 years ago. Two kids, Jamie 27 is in grad school near London. Meredith, 22 graduated from William and Mary and is now working for the school. I set out to be a foreign correspondent and my work has taken me to 30 nations including three long assignments in Iraq, three years as Beijing Bureau Chief, and side trips to North Korea, Sarajevo, Xinjiang, Australia, Russia, Tibet, South Africa and all...Expand for more
over Europe. I've also worked in Chicago, New York, Washington, Richmond and some small towns in California and upstate NY. CNN, INN, SNC in Washington; VOA Washington, Baghdad, & Beijing; WMAQ & WBBM in Chicago. Local stations elsewhere. I now do economic stories on television, radio and the web at VOA/Washington. I relax with kayaking, SCUBA, and shooting trap. I've done a very bad job of keeping in touch with friends. Plan to change that starting now.

Yesterday was our 38th anniversary. We were busy celebrating so I didn't get around to putting stuff of Facebook till today. Probably a good thing. Love You Joyce!
Dad, You saved many lives and a number of ships in three decades of service in “surf and storm and howling gale” and years overseas. Thanks very much!

We may have to change my town’s name to Bethany Beachless. Waves pushed by strong NÉ winds scoured the sand right up to the dunes that protect the town. Interesting, sad, and expensive to fix

Joyce is scheduled for surgery early Tuesday. I would deeply appreciate all the prayers and good vibes you can send her way. The surgeon says this is routine. Nevertheless, this is the love of my life. mother of our kids

Great Blue Heron stopped by for lunch in our pond. Found several frogs and a fish. A wonderful part of a neighborhood with hawks, ducks, geese, and unidentifiable flying objects.
Merry Christmas from the beach. Good times with family and friends. 🎄😎👋
