Jim's Story
Life
My family moved around a fair amount while I was growing up. We moved from the Twin Cities area to Duluth in the 6th grade (1970). Two years later we were in Schaumburg, Illinois. The summer before 10th grade, we moved to Walnut Creek, Calif. where I finished high school. Looking back, it was exciting at times moving like that, but difficult too. I have some great memories of growing up, but feel I missed out on being with various friends through those years.
My college years were good, but too many it seems! I graduated from UC Berkeley in 1981 (chemistry), but stayed on to change focus to math and physics. I have a MA in mathematics and PhD in physics from UW Madison. A highlight of those years was my junior year of c...Expand for more
ollege, which I spent at the U. of St. Andrews in Scotland.
Currently I live with my blended family in California (remarried in March 2007 - met using a Christian dating website (Christian Cafe)), where I work as a research meteorologist for the Navy.
I believe in the Lord Jesus Christ (currently attending a nondenominational church). I help with ushering, and when my kids were younger I helped with the AWANA Program for kids.
Current hobbies: guitar, fiddle (beginning), songwriting
Musical interests: Chrisitan worship music, classical, bluegrass (Flat and Scruggs, Bill Monroe, Allison Krauss / Union Station), western (RW Hampton - he sang at our church), Celtic/Scottish/Irish, some country (more traditional)
