Jim's Story
I am now living in Miami Beach, Florida after almost nine years in Toronto, Ontario. I moved to Toronto in 1997 after law school in Dallas, Texas and a very short, two-month stint in Miami. While in Toronto I was admitted to practice law in California and Florida (only beach states, please!) I also am a registered patent attorney with the US Patent and Trademark Office.
I'm happy to be back in sunny Miami, with more rational weather (hurricanes notwithstanding), and I am setting up my own law practice, specializing in intellectual property (patents, trademarks, trade secrets).

can see from the above that I've been moving around a bit. I haven't lived in California yet, even though I took the bar there. Just can't see the congestion and the traffic.
Thanks for looking at my bio! I enjoyed seeing many of you at the 30th anniversary class reunion in 2009. As skeptical as I was about the reunion being in Lafayette, it turned out to be a really, really good time. We broke the wireless router at the hotel with our scandalous videoconference with Tom Pearcy. And the tour of the high school the day before was awesome. Many thanks go to Tina (Lanman) Sheets!
