Jim's Story
School
After Groves, went to Michigan State to pursue that veterinary medicine career I had wanted. Went through the pre-vet program then switched to Medical Technology to give me options. I applied for Vet Med School but decided to answer truthfully instead of what they wanted to hear. Talk about an eye-opening experience! Decided maybe Vet School wasn't for me. Since I like the radio days at Groves took some TV and Radio classes and really enjoyed it. So I finished MSU with a BA in Telecommunications, BS in Medical Technology, Film Thematics certification and just short of a minor in theater. Am I an over achiever? Nah!!
After MSU took a few classes here and there (intro to Spanish, guitar playing, a few online courses) but nothing si...Expand for more
gnificant. Most of the time I self-teach myself things through books.
College
I bloomed in college. I became actively involved in many aspects of college life. I was very active in Student Government taking the roles of rep, Treasurer, Vice-President and President of Akers Hall. I also became a representative for Akers across campus. I also got as chance to grow as an entertainer. I became a fixture at some local talent shows, even playing the MC a few times. Most fun was the last Air Bands contest where I MCed and performed two numbers.
College also allowed me to grow personally, more than anytime in my life previously. Michigan State provided the perfect environment to help me investigate who I really am and to get out of my shell.
