Jo's Story
Life
I did not graduate from Wheeler H.S. I attended some grade school in the old school building, probably 1945 to 1948 (2nd,3rd,4th). I remember Marlene and Marvin Brickner, Wilma and Billy Young, Kathleen Ames, the Birge brothers, (who incidently used to tip over our outhouse on Halloween). There was a lady down the street we only knew as Mrs. Looker and a very old lady we used to call Grandma Barnes. She had an old piano and used to play and sing "Go Tell Aunt Rhodey" for us. g waxed paper and climbing up the fire escape tube and sliding down? We used to ride bikes out in the country and be gone most of the day. There was an old (haunted) house in the middle of a field and we used to see how close we could get before we turned back. I would like to hear from anyone who remembers these things. I also have a picture I took at my brothers 3rd or 4th birthday party. In it are Wilma and Billy Young, Kathleen Ames, my brother, Bob, and my sister Carolyn. I only attend school there for a short time, but I remember it as some of the best years of my life.
