Jo Ellen's Story
Life since CHS 1979!!
After graduating from CHS in 1979, I attended Cloud County for 2 years, married in 1981, then went on to KState. I got my Elementary Education degree there in 1983.
We moved to Lawrence in December of 1983. I substitute taught, worked as a para educator, and worked at Raintree Montessori School in Lawrence until I started teaching for the Wellsville School District in 1985.
We moved to Baldwin City in 1986. I taught First Grade in Wellsville from 1985-1989, then stayed home with our girls (Laura '87, Megan '89) for 10 years. During that time, I also substitute taught and worked as a para educator for both the Baldwin and Wellsville School Districts.
I finished my School Counseling degree from Emporia State in 1997, the same year that we moved to Hays. I substitute taught, then taught Fifth, Kinderga...Expand for more
rten, and First grades in the three years before working as the school counselor at Felten Middle School from 2000-2010. I went back to the classroom (4th grade) for the 2010-2011 school year, then moved to Rogers, AR in 2011 to live near my parents, who retired here in 1994. Craig and I divorced after 30 years of marriage.
Laura is married and lives in Richmond, VA where she is doing research on ALS and Alzheimer's at Virginia Commonwealth University. Megan is working as a Physician's Assistant at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita. She finished her PA degree at WSU in 2013.
My brother John and his family live in Levelland, Texas; Paul and Mark and their families are in McPherson, Kansas.
Many of you knew my grandmother - she moved with my parents to Rogers in 1994 and lived with them until she died in 2002. I still miss her!
