Joan's Story
Life
Life has been a wonderful and sad journey filled with many hills and valleys. From my first University experience with a USC degree in Political Science, Russian Studies at Columbia in N.Y. and then my Masters in Administration and Supervision I found my true calling. Finding one's place as I have, which has been working with children at all grade levels and then as a Principal for 18 years being part of a helping a school become truly recognized in the community of Burbank has been so exciting and rewarding. Giving poor children someplace to be proud of and wanted, has been the one most rewarding part of my professional journey. And, now teaching at the University and providing direction and support for beginning teachers extends my influence on future generations in very different and positive ways.

sing. And, being part of the peace and justice movement and working to make the lives of others and animal secure and safe has been the focus of my life. Making this world a better place for each of us has been my calling and my direction in life. I am a teacher, a believer in peace through understanding and acceptance of others in a world which is filled with self consumption and materialism. The work is never done and may life find me always continuing to struggle to make it a better place for all children, people, animals whom I know and those whom I might touch in all places far and near at some point in time.
"For I shall walk this way this way only once and any good or any kindness that I can show my fellow human beings or animals let me do it now for I shall not walk this way again." These words guide me on my journey and are the essence of this biography and my life.
