Joan's Story
After high school, I attended UMass, Amherst for 1 year, left school, worked at Children's Hospital in Boston for 2 years, went back to UMass for another 1.5 years and left again. Traveled to west coast for a few months, came back east, got married and had 3 children (boy, girl, boy). Finished an Associate in Accounting at age 40 and Bachelors in Sociology at age 50. It was fun to have my 3 grown kids at my graduation after attending so many of theirs. Currently I am single, live in Amesbury, MA and work in Portsmouth, NH. Having recently watched the Ken Burns PBS special on the National Parks (fall 2009), I really want to see more of the Parks. My daughter lives in Seattle, WA and we have gone to Olympic National Park and traveled around the Pacific Coast of Washington state. It is beautiful. I love the outdoors and after taking a 3 week drive cross country by myself in 2007, I want to see more of this country. There are so many beautiful places. With one son in San Francisco, the other in New Hampshire and a daughter in Washington state, I have both coasts covered! Hope all...Expand for more
of my former classmates are well. It would be nice to go to another reunion. My younger brothers Eddie Clark & Larry Clark live in the area and say there are general reunions for all the classes. Since I live an hour from Westwood, I am lazy about driving so far for a general reunion. But maybe one of these days.
Take care,
Joan
January 9, 2015 UPDATE. I moved to Seattle in July 2014 to be nearer by daughter. After losing my youngest son in 2012, I needed to be near her and her older brother who lives in San Francisco. I sold everything and took only what would fit in my Honda Fit and drove across, taking time to see a few sights. But I will not stay in Seattle year round. Need to see sunshine in the winter and I miss SNOW ! But this summer I have a job at Yellowstone National Park. Front Desk position at the Old Faithful Inn. One dream realized. Not sure where I will be after that, but hope to continue the drive east when my assignment is over on Oct 11th. Just in time to make our 50th reunion. Then maybe another National Park job for the winter if I can land one.
