Joan's Story
In my Sr yr I was engaged to a guy in the Air Force. We broke up 6 months after graduation and 6 months later I married the love of my life, Coyle Whitten, we eloped a week before he graduated from Ga. Tech. and never looked back. We have been married for 43 yrs now and have three wonderful children. Will is 40, Jennifer is 38 and Kim is 36. They each have 2 children so we have a total of six grandkids now. We have traveled extensively, After a detour in Virginia we landed in Texas. I worked for the fed. govt. for 25 yrs and retired as a GS-13 Realty Officer for the Indian Health Service. se Contracting Officer for an Area from California to Maine including the Southwest, the Southeast and the Northeastern States. It was a fascinating job with lots of travel and I thoroughly enjoyed dealing with the different Tribes. I managed to earn two Certifications equivalent to two Associate Degrees from the University of Texas and the Building Owners and Managers Institute (BOMI). One in Real Property Administration and one in Lease Administration. I am happily retired now and enjoy playing with my grandchildren here in the Dallas Areas and the two that are in Houston. My Mother still lives in Macon and I have two sisters in Gray so I am back in Macon frequently to visit.
