Joan's Story

Classmates. Friends. Family. Look for me on Facebook. JOAN ERRICO COLLINS. Send me a message there. I was born on Nov. 21, 1944 at Monmouth Memorial Hospital and raised in North Long Branch. My first job at the age of 14 1/2 was at Baldanza Bakery. At age 17 I began my barber apprenticeship at my grandfather's barber shop, Errico's Barber Shop, (Formally Victors Barber Shop) on Atlantic Ave. in North Long Branch. I later became a fully licensed master barber. I met my husband there. He was a customer. He asked me out after only a few haircuts. Ron was an elementary school teacher in Howell, NJ. A month later he proposed and six months later we were married. We lived on Hoyt St. for one year. Then we moved to Bricktown in Ocean County. This was closer to his school in Howell Twp. In 1970 we decided to move to sunny Florida and have lived here ever since. As the years go by we miss our old home town more and more. Now we wished we had stayed in NJ. We miss it so. I attended barber college in Fort Lauderdale in order to acquire a Florida barber license. In 1978 I took an adult education ...Expand for more
course for medical secretary. For the next twelve years I worked at local hospitals in Fort Lauderdale and Pompano Beach. My position was insurance verification clerk which included filling in for the discharge cashier. At the very end of the eighth year I worked as a receptionist in the X-ray department which I didn't like at all, so I ended up leaving that hospital and then worked at Humana Hospital Cypress as a Personal assistant for four years. Due to a chronic back condition I had to stop working in 1990. We adopted a Chihuahua in 2002. He is the joy of our life. He is more like a child than a pet. He gives us such pleasure. We never had children so you can imagine how much this little guy means to us. We moved to Pompano Beach in 1984. We originally lived in Fort Lauderdale the first fourteen years. Ron retired from teaching in 1995. He then worked two days a week for ten years as a security guard at a condo on the Fort Lauderdale beach. . I am NOT Gold so I can't read when people leave messages on my inbox. I am on Facebook if you want to contact me there. Joan Errico Collins

This looks exactly like the little kitty that comes to my front door every night at 9 p.m. I give her food and she's so happy. I put it out early, because she runs away when I open the door. Wish I could keep her, but sh

It's just pills pills pills. Doctor visits. Doctor visits. Blood work. Blood work. It's a grand ole time. Everyday.
Thanks to ALL Veterans. I want to add my family members who served. Cousins, Nephews, friends too. Our nephew Jake was in the Air Force.
Another holiday alone without you.
