Joan's Story
Life
After graduating from PPHS, I worked in Lindsay, Port Perry, Lindsay, Toronto, and finally moved to Kincardine where I married and still live. We have 3 sons, 38, 36, 32, currently the younger two are still single. The eldest is married, and we have our 'first' grandchild who arrived in October 2004. I have worked at a variety of jobs, but am semi-retired and have my own machine embroidery business at home. I am very interested in contacting old chums from school days.
I have made contact with several school chums from Grade 5 and Grade 7, and we have been to see each other as well. What a thrill that is!!!!
Workplace
Upon graduating from high school in 1964, I worked at Eaton's in Lindsay for 15 months, the Canadian Bank of Commerce in Port Perry for 18 months, back to Deyell's Printing in Lindsay for 12 months, and to Toronto to the TD Centre working for the TD Bank in the Insurance Department on 12th Floor. I moved to Kincardine where...Expand for more
I worked for the Royal Bank as a teller for 29 months. I quit work to raise a family, working at selling Avon, baby sitting in my home, by then the boys were all in school and I worked in Stedman's Store, and the Bruce Inn, then to Canadian Red Cross for 7 years.
I worked at Presto Crest for 4 years, and quit there due to stress. I now have my own sewing/embroidery/alteration business in my own home, which I work at in my leisure time, plus do volunteer driving, and fill-in crossing-guard. I am happy doing what I do, at my leisure, when I please.
I bowl weekly, belong to writing group, do some writing, visit the local seniors home and play games and do jig saw puzzles with some of them as a lot of them remained friends after doing home care for them.
We own a time share in Collingwood and spend as much time as we can up there.
My darling grandson started Grade One in September, but we are not allowed any contact with him or his half sisters.
