Joan's Story
I was in the first graduating class from Trinity Lutheran School when it started in 1946 in the church on Powell Ave. It was a two room school, four grades in each room and One teacher for each room. There were 10 students in my class,5 girls and 5 boys. It was an unusual experience for that time in New York. It was not like we lived out west in a prairie state.The Lutheran Schools were just starting to grow.

arted at St. Stephens School on Union Ave. in the Bronx. The Church was sold and the students went to either Our Savior in the Bronx or Trinity Church School in the Bronx. This being the first graduating class from that School. I do have two pictures of the two rooms and also of my graduating class. If anyone is interested in them I will mail them if I had the correct address.
