Joan's Story
After graduating from St. John's Univ., Don and I married, moved to NJ, then Illinois, and finally to Salt Lake City, Utah. We have 3 children, all married and 6 grandsons whom we visit every 4 months in Reno, San Diego, and Washington DC. I've taught in elementary school for 40 years, retired, (sort of) and subsequently taught at a small private college in Salt Lake City, Utah!! We've been here 27 years, but still go back to NY to visit parents and siblings. My husband's work takes him pretty much all over Europe and parts of Asia, and I have been lucky enough to go with him at times.
We are actually considering selling our beautiful home here in SL with the possibility of moving even further west. However, as the saying goes, "You can take the girl out of New York, but you can't take the New York out of the girl" Guess I will just have to wear BLING on my jeans!!

e we can be happy. It's been fun to be near our youngest daughter and her family. Being close to one daughter will enable us to visit our other two children and their families more often.
We've met some nice friends who have made the transition from Salt Lake to Reno a happy one. Two golf courses, workout rooms, exercise classes, tennis, two pools, and casinos that bring in great shows. all provide enough fun so that I don't miss teaching.
Spent some time this summer in New York visiting relatives and Connecticut cruising the Long Island Sound with my cousin, Debbie and her husband, Jeff.
Visited my cousin in Florida in February , 2015 and had some fun cruising the inlands. Don ate lots oysters and lobster. In April, we flew to NY for my brother, Michael's 70th birthday and again back to Conn., NY, NJ and LI in August. Wedding, visiting friends, and seeing plays.
Just came back from DC to celebrate grandson's birthday and will be leaving for St. George, Utah for a golf outing.
