Joan's Story

Life I went to 2 High Schools, Dacula & Central Gwinnett which I went my last 2 yrs. and graduated from. I've been married to Kirk Seaton for 16+ years. We moved to Tennessee back in July, 1997, 13 yrs ago. I really miss GA. and hope to someday be able to move back. I have 3 children by a previous marriage(to Keith Dudley for 10 yrs)that are all grown up now and have children of their own. I have 3 grandchildren. My son Brandon is 30 and he has a little girl, Alexis, she is 9 yrs. old, they live in Jefferson, GA. My daughter Jennifer is 29 and has a little boy, Christopher, he is 3 yrs. old, they live in Auburn, GA. My son Kevin is my youngest, he lives in Jefferson, GA., he is 25 yrs. old and has a little boy, Payton, he is 5 yrs. old, but Payton lives with us and we have custody of him. Kevin's 21 yr. old wife died 3 yrs. ago (Feb. 3rd, 2007), leaving behind their little boy Payton who now doesn't have a mommy. It's hard being so far away from my 3 children and 2 of my grandchildren, with me being in TN. and them in GA. I hardly ever get to see them, which makes me very sad. I moved to TN. 13 yrs. ago and I live in Shelbyville, TN. which is about 45 min. from Nashville, TN. Where I live is out in the country, which I love...I have my horse farm I've always dreamed of and can look out my dining room window and see my horses grazing in the pasture. I have a beautiful big 2 story cape cod house, black shutters, red front door with a huge front porch and back deck which has a swimming pool. I have 26 acres here with a 10 stall horse barn with 6 horses, one of which is the grandkids pony. I look out everyday and see at least 7 or 8 deer grazing with the horses. My pet is my Norwegian Forrest Cat that is 8 yrs. old that I've had since he was 5 weeks old, he follows me around everywhere I go in the house. I stayed at home with my children while they were young, then worked for Gwinnett Co. for 8 yrs, then helped my husband open his own Horse Training Facility in which I worked with him. We then later moved to TN. (where he is from org.) which I worked in the same field, Breeding,Training, & Showing Tennessee Walking Horses, later on opening our own place here. w years, I'm retired due to health reasons. As I previously stated, I am raising my little grandson Payton, who is 5 yrs. old which is a full time job keeping up with him. I feel very fortunate to have 3 beautiful children and 3 beautiful grandchildren. :) My father died in 2000. I'm still having trouble coming to terms with his death. I also learned how issues of money can tear a family apart when someone passes away. My mom, siblings and I, our relationships are chaos. My brothers which I had always loved, suddenly became my worst enemies. You will find you never really ever know anyone until you have experienced and went thru the estate of a loved one. The love of money truly is the root of all evil. I have a long list of health problems. Two of the most difficult ones I've endured have been breast cancer 5 yrs. ago, which I'm having to take an anti-cancer drug Tamoxifen for several yrs., although it causes weight gain. :( So far, I'm cancer free, but I have to get mammograms every 6 months. The other is severe back problems, I went thru back surgery, which helped the pain down my legs, but I still have severe back pain and muscle spasms. Because of the pain and horrific muscle spasms, it's very hard for me to be active. I swim in our pool for most of my excercise in the summer, I have a hard time walking very far without getting extreme muscle spasms in my back. It sucks!! I've also had female issues.....which I had to have surgery for, it threw me into sugical menopause, and the anti-cancer drugs triple the hot flashes. I have the air conditioner on in the dead of winter and freeze everyone. Add this to a continued list of other health problems, thyroid (hashimotos disease),high blood pressure and too many others to I feel like I'm 90. Damn it's hell to get old!!! The girl who once rode horses and loved to dance the night away is merely a memory now. :( Ok.....that's about it for now. I was hoping to make it to the Central Gwinnett reunion in 2008, and the Dacula one (even though I didn't graduate from there, I went most of my years there), but due to health reasons I was unable to attend. Maybe I'll be able to make the next reunion. Till later.... Joan
