Joanie's Story
Life
I am married and have two children,
Stephen 21 and Maureen 18. I am medically retired from USAirways after 20 years of service. I worked for the FBI for a few years while I was laid off from the airlines. I worked as a file clerk, in the leave office and in the traffic management office.
College
I attended U of L for 3 semesters then dropped out.I was trying to return to school when I was in a serious car accident on my way to U of L. I was hospitalized for a month and in therapy for about three months. Once again I tried to return to school but because of my injuries I found it impossible.
While attending UofL I did make take two "A"'s, one in swimming and one in volleyball. I can't play volleyball anymore but I am still a pretty good swimmer. It...Expand for more
is a family joke about at least I made an A in swimming and I can still do that. I do wish however that I would of gotten a degree and really regret that.
Workplace
I worked for USAirways for 20 years before getting injured at work and going on disability. I have worked in Louisville, Indianapolis, New York Laguardia and New York Islip. I loved working for US airways and got to meet so many great people. I really loved working in New York for over ten years.
I worked for the FBI for a few years in the 80's. I started as a file clerk in Ident and worked in the Leave Office also. From there I went to Traffic Management and worked at the airline desk.
Between the FBI and USAirways I worked a variety of different jobs before getting hired by the airline.
