Joanie's Story
Life
Spent some time at Saddleback trying to figure out what I was going to do with my life. Partied hard and had some great times. 1988 married Mark Rowe (Brother of Charlie and David Rowe)from class of 81, after dating for 8 years we finally decided to make it legal. Still together in 2008 with 28 years together. Whew but it has not been all that easy!
1 beautiful daughter Hayley who is the apple of our eye. She is a good student and we are very proud! If she keeps up the good grades maybe we will keep her.
Decided to relocate to Mission Viejo for a more affordable house, thanks to Robert Hows at Lantern Bay Realty. Still work out of Hometown in San Clemente for California State Parks.
2 wonderful sisters, Kitty Weinstein class of "88" independent cousultant, Robyn (Surritt)McGuire class of "82" clean and sober. So very proud!
After a very difficult couple of years, 2008 still surviving Breast Cancer. (September will mark the 4 year anniversary). Taking better care of myself and working hard to reach a goal with the help of the Lord.
I try to stay connected with old friends but haven't made it to any reunions lately. Still missing very dear friends. Lisa Hutts, Simone LaNue where are you?...Expand for more
I know I will run into one of you very soon. Until then God Bless you.
School
Moved to San Clemente in the 3rd grade where I attended Las Palmas elementary. They had to revamp the school after the big earthquake in 1970? Then I attended Concordia Elementary for 4th grade. We moved away in my 5th and 6th grade years to Tustin California but later returned in the 7th grade where I attended Marco Forester Junior High. I went to the "B" shift that started later. Completed all four years at San Clement High School. I remember the dances, football games, being in Drama Club and Stage Craft. And going to the beach almost everyday. Thoses were the days!
College
All I kept thinking about was the Beach. I had fun and learned alot, but I really loved the beach.
Workplace
Still working for California State Parks. Began as a Park Aid working the booth at Surf Beach at San Onofre. Met alot of cute surfer boys. Later became a Dispatcher Clerk and promoted to a Telecommunication operator. In 1991 had a daughter and decided to work in an office type setting. Currently I am an Administrative Supervisor in the South Coast Administrative Center located in San Clemente. Travel is included for this awesome job.
